Everything you Wanted to Know About the Auction
but were Afraid to Ask . . . .
Why do we have an auction? To raise money for the school. Tuition does not fully cover our operating budget. The auction helps in bridging that gap. Any amount we raise over $85,000 will go towards technology needs as we move towards electronic textbooks.
How can parents help?
o Volunteer ~ Help is needed in preparing items and packets, setting up the day of the event, greeting and answering questions at the event as well as clean up the night of the event. Contact email@example.com to volunteer.
o Acquire Donations ~ Ask businesses you frequent to donate items, gift cards, etc. to CCA. It’s a tax deduction for them and a benefit to CCA!
o Register, Attend & Bid on great items! Go to www.cougarauction.com to register.
o Bring Friends & Family ~ This is a fun way to introduce them to the awesome staff and families at CCA.
o Pray for the success of the auction and that the event would glorify God.
What happens at the auction?
o Registration begins. When you sign in, you will be issued a nametag, table assignment and your bidder number. You will also have the convenient option of pre-swiping a credit card for a faster check out at the end of the evening.
o Silent Auction & Big Board
§ Silent Auction items will be displayed on tables with a bid form in front of each item. To bid, write your number and bid amount on the form. Each table will have a specific time that it closes. Watch the items you really want to make sure you don’t get outbid!
§ Big Board items are generally higher ticket, more unique items. Bids are submitted on a form to the Big Board Monitor who will then keep the highest bids updated on a screen. This area is generally a bit faster paced than the Silent Auction items.
o Dinner & Live Auction ~ A fun time to bid on some unique, one-of-a kind experiences all under the direction of a lively auctioneer. To bid, simply hold up your bidder number card issued at registration.
o Check Out ~ We have an automated system designed to make the check out process fast and smooth! At check out, you will receive the items you won so that you can take them home that evening.
What types of items are there? Can I see them before the auction? Everything from unique travel experiences to gift cards to items for your home. You will find items in all price ranges. Go to the auction website from www.cougarauction.com to preview live auction items and see a listing of silent auction items.
How do I register for the event? Go to www.cougarauction.com. Be sure to register by the deadline for the discounted ticket price! Save even more by putting together a table of 8 to register together! (Invite new families in your class to join you!)
How do I get more donation forms? Forms are located in all the school offices and at the drop off times in the Upper School Cafeteria.
What do I do with my donations? Drop them off in the Upper School Cafeteria at the designated times. Gift cards can be turned in to any school office anytime. Be sure the white and yellow copy of the donation form is attached. Turning them in as early as possible helps us so much!
What do I wear? Cocktail Attire ~ Nice dresses or formal pantsuits for the ladies. Suit or Jacket/Slacks for the men.
Are there any incentives to bring in donations? Yes! Bring in 3 or more donations by March 30 and your student will receive 3 FREE DRESS Days!! (1 of those 3 days can be on Chapel Day!)
What if I can’t come to the auction but want to bid on Live Auction items? We now offer Proxy Bidding on Live Auction Items only. A designated representative will be assigned to bid for you up to your maximum dollar amount. Proxy Bid Cards are available at www.cougarauction.com and must be received by April 11th.
Will Deferred Billing be available? Yes! Back by popular request! If you win items totaling $2,000 or more, you will have the Easy Pay option – 3 equal payments April 15, May 15 & June 15, 2012.
